Sea Girt Lighthouse

EXPLORE'd 4/15/09

The lighthouse was established in the late 19th Century to fill the blind spot between Navesink and Barnegat Lighthouses. During WWII the beacon was turned off to prevent leading any enemies to shore. During this time the Coast Guard used the lighthouse to keep look out for German U-boats.
