1907 Van Norden Carriage House - Jay Heritage Center (Rye, NY)

A fresh paint job brightens the rear view of this historic building which is used as the Visitor's Center for the JHC. The center arched opening visible in the roofline still has its original hoisting bar and pulley for lifting hay into the loft above the horse bay below. A new seamed copper roof protects the building and the Seth Thomas clocktower completes the classical design of this 1907 structure that has been a carriage house, a garage, a caretaker's home (there are apartments on the second floor), a Methodist conference center and now a unique exhibit and performance space.
