The shot is featured in the August 2011 issue of National Geographic Magazine in their 'Visions of Earth' seciton.

This shot has also appeared in major newspapers and websites all over the globe as well as on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. Tech Info: This was taken Wednesday night during a major electrical storm using a tripod mounted Nikon D300s with a 60mm f2.8 Nikon lens and a remote shutter release. The exposure was 5 seconds at F10. The RAW file was converted to a DNG file and processed in Photoshop CS3. There was no PS manipulation except for some Curve adjustments and cropping the image square. It took 82 shots before I captured this one. Thanks to all of you who so kindly commented on this shot. You captured such a magic & delightful moment with lots of electricty! Truly beautiful dialogue between Heaven and earth! ... I just was wondering, though, who actually started this long distance call? ... touch down of deep roots on solid ground ... It is rather unique & truly impressive what the flash of your camera can induce in real life!

Have a great summer, thank for sharing your xlnt photographic visions!
      Best, Michael ...
