runner's dream (repost)
This photo just became something of a milestone for me: It's the 400th to have made Explore.
Pride is ... unseemly, at the least, but I'd be lying if I said that making Explore didn't mean anything to me. It does. So shoot me!
Many many other people have far more photos in Explore than I do. And I know that sharing photos here is not some kind of contest. But there's no denying Explore is still a kick. And it's a good way to find out what other people are doing.
(Also, it seems to me that if you want to be on Explore, the best way you can help yourself is by participating. The more "favorites" you designate, the more comments you make, the more your photos will get scooped up. Explore "pays" you to play. I don't believe that photographic quality is the chief determinant of something being on Explore. Some of the best stuff on Flickr never has, and never will, make Explore.)
At any rate, Flickr has been an unbelievable way to connect with other photographers. I'm coming up on my fifth anniversary of joining (November, 2004.) It's not an overstatement to say that it has changed my life. It might be kind of cheesy to say it, but it's still true. :)
Thank you, Flickr, and thank you, Flickr people.
And thank you, Explore algorithm, whatever you are.
