Trans-Mongolian Railway in the Mongolian plains

Just before arriving in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia's capital, the Trans-Mongolian cuts through some wonderful green hills. Subsequently you can see the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, mostly consisting of traditional Ger tents, surrounded by a wooden fence.

Photos from a one-month journey on the Trans-Siberian (well ok, actually the Trans-Mongolian) railway starting in Beijing (see set), via Ulaanbaatar, a 12 day trip through Mongolia (see set), a 6 day stopover in Irkutsk and at Lake Baikal (see set), and then finally arriving in Moscow (see set).
