Looking Into the Past: Crowd Watching the World Trade Center Burn from the Brooklyn Promenade, September 11, 2001

    Newer Older

At this point on that day, both planes had hit in New York, and the Pentagon was just about to be hit (or had just been hit - I can't tell the specific time from this photo). It was clear America was under attack by terrorists. This crowd is a lot calmer than I would have been, I think.

Original photo taken from the Brooklyn Promenade, courtesy of Michael Foran, who very graciously allowed me to use a number of his images for this project. Please check out the rest of his 9/11 set.

You even waited for the right light and weather circumstances. I like it when people put in some effort.

Wow, amazing... I remember when this happened. I had recently moved to the States at the time and my flight was via New York. Was glad it didn't happen on that day! It was such a tragic. Thank you for sharing these images and have a good day!

Great work. This one works best with the superimposed image, while the other portrait shot works best as the original. Both are highly charged with poignant emotion. This is the type of work that Flickr was invented to showcase. Well done.
