Freshly Mowed Lawn

When I was kid, I hated to have mow lawns (but I liked the money). No one pays me to do it now, but I love yardwork.

I approve of this photo! Focus, perspective, and all ... nice package.

Gracias mucho. I'm trying to use the manual mode on my camera and take a little more control over such things. I might even try some long exposure shots as well.

I played with manual a lot today out at the track in City Park. I did some continuous shot stuff (where you just hold down the button and it keeps snapping) and some other focus tricks, but it was late in the day and the lighting was bad and nothing came out like I wanted. I'll have to try again some other day.

Long exposure = ridiculously easy. Action shots of one's wife running? Very hard, at least on my current camera. I think that may be the first real limitation I've come across. OR maybe I'm just incompetent. Equally possible.

Thank you for posting this photo and sharing it under a Creative Commons license. We used it as an illustration on our site, 500 Kindnesses to go with a pledge we received. This project is a charity bike ride where instead of asking for money, we ask our sponsors to pledge acts of kindness for others in the hopes of spreading kindness throughout the world . Last year we rode from Toronto to New York City on a tandem bicycle. Next year we will leave from Mobile, Alabama on another tandem bike and ride home to Toronto along the Underground Railroad Bicycle Route. More about the project is here, and the entry is posted here.
