The upper Upper Platte River

One of the several fine little rivers we're lucky enough to get to paddle in the area.

Although what you see we could paddle in, just downstream are several trees across the water. This "upper upper" section (above the Fish Hatchery back to the river's source (Lake Dubonnet) is not at all suited for (most) paddlers. On the other hand, the section from the Fish Hatchery to Big Platte Lake (known as the Upper Platte) is a favorite of the more discriminating canoer/kayaker..

Taken just before sunset looking north from the Fewins Road bridge, not far upstream from the

Platte River State Fish Hatchery east of Honor, MI.

Looks good on black, too!
