From Richmond, with Love

Walked out of work today at 3:10. Looked up. Clouds. Great clouds. I’ve gotta go! “Get your gear!” my brain yelled to me. “Where are we gonna go!” the other half of my brain screamed. “Who cares, hit the road, we’ll figure it out!”
So, I figured it out, on the Richmond bridge, while driving in the wrong direction. So basically what I did was pay a toll, waste my time, u-turn, and drive back across the bridge.
By that time, my “figure out”; Berkely, wasn’t going to happen, so… Richmond!
Never been there, may never go again, but it saved my photo tonight!
Driving like a mad man, slammed the truck into park and RAN out to where I could at least get a shot of this sky. Luckily I was able to find some foreground, which pleasantly blocked most of what appeared to be slimy oil cover rocks down below.
Again luckily, there was really no wind, so the little flowers didn’t move too much in the two minute exposure.
I Lit the FG and flowers with the LED on my iphone.
The PINK line near the horizon was caused by a ship, but was not a ship. I waited for a ship to float by, out of frame, and the resulting wave/flat (glassy) spot where it went by reflected the color in the sky more than the surrounding water. Thought about editing it out, but decided not to. Good idea? Bad? Leave in or take out? Let me know.
From here, it was just an hour drive back to Davis for a gallery opening, and then 30 minutes back to Vacaville for my delicious Olive Garden dinner.
And that, my friends, is a good night! –jared r.
