Grand Canal from the Rialto Bridge

Standing on the Rialto Bridge in Venice, standing among 30+ other photographers, and yet still feeling alone, like I have this place to myself. One of those odd occasions where I took a few shots, was content to stop pushing the shutter, and just stood and enjoyed the scene with my own two eyes, without the viewfinder. I even ended up loaning my tripod and filters to a fella who seemed fairly distraught that he had traveled so far, and would not get the photo he wanted. That’s probably what made me the happiest of all. He was so thankful. I’m thankful too, for the gift of photography, and travel, and my wife and a laundry list of other things. Happy 3 day weekend everyone, and happy shooting. –jared r.
