so...youre comparing a SOOC jpeg to a RAW file processed in lightroom? I get that the RAW file contains much more information, but this is not an apples to apples comparison.

A better way to go would be to process the RAW and jpeg files the same, and show how much 'more' you get out of the RAW file through correct processing.

I will be showing the processing of the same files in light room via screen flow video soon on the site. This was just to show what the camera saved as a jpeg to counter the "i get it right in the camera" statement and showing what the final RAW looks like.

SOOC= Straight out of camera (I think)
I enjoy your Raw vs Jpg videos and might start shooting in Raw more often. Definitely a good job editing the second shot the colors are fantastic. Cheers!

Yeah SOOC means straight out of camera. Didnt mean to jump the gun on your comparison, just didnt realize there was more to come for these shots.

Hell, even Ansel didnt 'get it right in the camera.' But hey, who is he compared to Ken Rockwell?

Thats exactly what i said in my videos, did you see the videos with my interview with ken on fro knows?

Dude that photo looks great , shooting RAW does make a big difference

Have you plan or do you have a step by step , idiot proof RAW processing tutorial ??

I use Adobe Bridge to import and open my shots with CS3 , but I have no idea about how much I can tweek a photo , hope I make sense

If you don't have a guide , Can you please make one ?? I also have LightRoom 3 , but I have no freakin clue on how to use it , thanks

Wow! What a difference that makes. I took some shots of a near by Waterfall and left it on RAW by mistake. I had had a blast tweaking the photo to what I remembered seeing and had a blast doing it. I now shot RAW as well. I just finished watching your vids on RAW vs JPEG.

The raw is fun but it looks very unnatural. Purple sand!? Dude what have you been licking? I'd rather not try and "get it right in lightroom" in this manner. But okay - it is immensely more entertaining than the first shot.
