Tribute to the Ayotzinapa 43
This is an ongoing series of digital works by Scottish artist and filmmaker, Jan Nimmo, dedicated to 43 Normalista students from the "Raúl Isidro Burgos" Rural School in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, Mexico. The students were forcibly disappeared in Iguala by the Mexican police who then handed them over to the Guerreros Unidos, a criminal gang. This took place on the 26th Sept. 2014 and the fate of the students remains, as yet, unknown, with the exception of Alexander Venancio Mora, whose remains were identified from a tooth and a small fragment of bone found in a riverside dump in Cocula.
Jan first became involved through #IlustradoresConAyotzinapa but was inspired to continue working on the portraits by being involved with "Tribute to the Disappeared" digital quilt project.

She plans to have all the works finished for the 26th Sept 15, which will be a year since the students were disappeared.
