Jan Nimmo CTDU Projects
Jan Nimmo worked facilitating arts projects with CTDU (Community Training and Development Unit, Forth Valley) for many years. The projects were issues based and often involved working in partnership with other local and national community organisations. The projects involved different media including film and issues based banner making. The banners were made collaboratively, often by participants who were new to art. The banners reflected the beliefs, ideologies and concerns of the groups involved and represented participants at ant -war/anti-poverty demos as well as at the Scottish Parliament. The issues addressed in the banners were, for example: poverty, disability, mental health, social justice and solidarity. The active citizens made a banner which was sent to support banana workers in Ecuador in response to an attack on striking workers. Jan loved working with CTDU people.
