A Rare Alphabet Butterfly © by j.towbin

I was very fortunate to capture this rare butterfly atop a book with my trusty digital camera. It is a most unusual butterfly--a member of the family known as Authorious, genus Paperback Noveli. It is commonly known as the "Alphabet Butterfly" and was (until very recently) seen near libraries and bookstores. It is attracted by open books, particularly books by Vladimir Nabokov. This rare butterfly made a fleeting appearance on the Explore page (for a day or two) and then fluttered away.
