      www.moca-nyc.org/MoCA/content.asp?cid=10
      from the MOCA website:
Folk art of the Chinese refugees aboard the Golden Venture, a ship that ran aground off the coast of New York City in 1993. Approximately 300 refugees were detained in various facilities across the United States or sent back to China. Of the passengers, 52 were incarcerated for the next 4 years in York County, Pennsylvania. Fly to Freedom is a traveling exhibition organized by MoCA that tells the story of the refugees and features a selection of folded-paper and papier-mache artworks created by the refugees during their detention.

A friend of mine gave me this folded paper vase he purchased from an exhibit at York College . It is one of two.
