That is just brilliant!! Thanks so much for uploading it. Maria must have been quick with the camera -- kudos. How long did it perch there? Were you pishing to attract them? Or are they used to being fed from the hand?

There's a guy in NJ who puts birdseed in his hat to get this effect. That doesn't appear to be the case here!

      Great shot.

It's trying to control your mind. Better watch out for those NWO birds!

Phoebe almost called it -- this photo did use the seed-on-toque trick.

The chickadees at my parents' place are very time and expect to be hand-fed. If you don't get the seed out in time, they will land on whatever head, shoulder, snowshoe tip, camera lens hood, jacket zipper, etc, they can find. But they don't sit still very long!

The chickadee winter flocks that live up there may never see people other than my parents or their guests, so they are quite trusting. One summer I had one bring a couple of fledglings to me. They sat in a twig at arm's reach, while their mother collected sunflower seeds from me and fed them.

That's frickin' great! I'd love to get a chickadee to eat out of my hand, but this would be cool, too.

Don't know why I didn't notice this before.

Kudos to Maria those little guys are FAST!

Great story about the fledglings :)
