190 HEACHAM St Mary

Heacham's parish church is a huge cruciform church that dates from the 13th century, although at first glance it seems a very odd shape indeed, the transepts have been demolished with large buttresses in place where the walls would have been, the central tower has been slightly lowered and has unusual round belfry windows, the east, north and south face of the tower show outlines of where the transepts and chancel once were, only the chancel has been rebuilt a bit lower down in the 1800's, a lot of local carstone has been used in the building
