i don't think of all the misery, but of all the beauty that still remains

~ Anne Frank (Diary of a Young Girl)

i've been admiring these trees this past week, they are all over and they strike me as unique in the way they leaf out...in sweet little lemon-lime tufts. at least i think these are the leaves, they may be the bloom. i dunno, they look more leafy in person.

it was a sad day after school, when my girl accidentally knocked the wreath next to our front door onto the ground, causing the four bird eggs nesting behind it to fall and crack open. she had been waiting excitedly for them to hatch.

she was inconsolable and then said you know the worst part, mommy? it's all my fault.
