"The Citadel of Cells"
Banteay Kdei means 'the citadels of cells" in Khmer. It was built as a monastic complex in the reign of Jayavarman II (r. 1181-1220) and remained occupied by monks until the 1960s. Angkor Archaeological Park, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
