Red Slender Loris, L. t. tadigradus photo James T. Reardon-3158

An adult red slender loris moves smoothly but swiftly from one complex of vegetation to another. These gorgeous little primates have an amazing ability to articulate themselves by their hind-legs and dangle like an upside-down puppet as they reachout for a branch or pounce on a gecko or mantis. Like most other species in Sri Lanka their future is seriously threatened by habitat loss and encroachment, collection of fuel wood.
