Philautus spp. Sri Lanka, photo James T. Reardon-3533

Sri Lanka is one of the biodiveristy hotspots of South Asia, a remarkable place not only because of it's rich human culture (notwithstanding a dreadful civil war) but mainly because of the diversity of wildife. The genus Philautus consists of several hundred shrub frogs and Sri Lanka contains much of what the genus has to offer. A very good friend of mine lead the description of many of these species. I need him to take a look at this photo and see if he can help with the identification. This little fellow was photographed near the Horton Plains.
