Golden Temple

The Golden Temple in Amritsar shines out through the cold evening fog.

Getting this photo was a challenge. I first tried to set up a tripod, but was chased away at spearpoint (literally!) by an angry Sikh guard. After trying in vain to negotiate permission with the tourism authorities, I came back and rigged up a makeshift cradle using filter boxes, my camera bag and some precariousness that involved dangling my camera over the Amrit Sarovar. I think it was worth it though!

This was (gently!) tonemapped from a single RAW file. The thing is, this is exactly what it looked like in reality - in terms of sheer duplication of memory, this is one of the best photos I've ever taken. I like it a lot.
