cold ride

    Newer Older

This came together nicely. I was walking along the Ottawa river around 8 in the morning when it began snowing. I noticed bikers along the path, so I paused at an interesting location and clicked a few passing by. This particular one was my favorite.

This picture stands out much more than the defenders. There's a story in it, although the composition isn't great neither is the defenders. oneof100bw#1

Wow. This is an excellent shot. The composition is expertly done, the bw is fantastic, and the rider looks like his riding on Mars. Really well done. Instant fave.

A very dramatic silhouette, captured at precisely the right moment. Wonderful image!

That is a nice shot, i prefer it to the defender's one. i like the silhouette, i like the bag behind him. Don't know why, but it makes me think that he's a postman :)

but let me raise just a few suggestions before i put my positive vote :)
in my humble opinion this image would become better and more dynamic if you would crop out at least half of the ground at the bottom and flip this image so that biker goes right. the longer frame and biker going right will make a feeling of speed.

While I'm a fan of organic, textures shots like the defender's, I really like the moment you've captured here. Catching the biker between the two buildings was a nice touch and creates more interest. I also think that the image would be stronger if you cropped out some of the ground (since it is darker, my eye goes there first) to bring more attention to the biker.

I love the image you are challenging... I gave it a vote to gain acceptance in the pool, and so this is a difficult challenge for me. I love the abstract and ad the same tiume detailed mix in the defender, but I prefer the compositon and technical skills in your image.

So, Welcome to the HC group! Your image has my vote!
