Mace is the dried covering of the nutmeg. Both have similar uses, however Mace is more costly to produce hence it is used in more expensive cuisine. It has a strong aroma similar to a combination of pepper and cinnamon. It is used in savory dishes, and is also regarded as a baking spice.
