Ottawa googie

    Newer Older

There is so little googie left in Ottawa and I've been meaning to take a photo of this one for ages. This was the old civic pharmacy on Carling. They've incorporated this bit into the new sign for the "medicine shoppe"...(I cut that hideous part out) it really doesn't go together very well but at least they've left this bit in tact...

Ms. Redenn, MCMAdmirer, gardenhoe, and 21 other people added this photo to their favorites.

      Nice picture!

I've been dying to get a hold of this picture as I don't have a digital camera yet. I've gone by this pharmacy so many times last fall and have always found myself wishing that I had a digital camera to take a picture of this googie signage.

My memory tells me that there's a small googie sign at the corner of the building, at the pedestrian level. Am I correct?

Thanks for posting this! This sign always made me smile during a very sad time in my life, whenever I was driving by it on Carling.

thanks! I'm not sure if there was a smaller sign or not...if there is I didn't notice it--I'm thinking it must be gone now. I'll have to take a better look next time I'm going by there. Thanks for your comment :)

It appears that this building is for sale or rent, now. I drive by it every day to get to work, and I just know someone's going to take over and destroy the sign.

How big do you think it is? Maybe I can convince them to let me have it...

oh god, it's probably at least ten feet across I would think...I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it's gone altogether
