Oh man- I hadn't seen stars like this in over 15 years!!
Way up in the mountains, far away from any light pollution, the stars were absolutely stunning.
This photo was taken at about 7:30pm, just as the last few rays of sun were fading over the western horizon. A few hours later, the moon rose up into the sky, illuminating all the ice crystals in the upper atmosphere, effectively covering up the starscape above...
I froze my nads off taking this photo, but I think it was worth it. =)
