Snug as a bug in a rug

    Newer Older

This blue tit was preening amongst the autumn colours of a Swamp Cypress tree, and didn't care how close I got.

I'm not sure if anyone will like this, as its not a "normal" wildlife shot, so rather than looking and leaving without a comment, please give your honest opinion... I won't be offended ..... :)

I think it works Izzy, a brief capture of the private life rather than the exposed on a brach shot we aee so often.
Honestly....it gets a tick from me.

I agree with Dan - it really does look like we're getting a sneaky look into this bird's private world. The shot works for me because the eye is sharp - it's lovely Izzy.

Black Cat Photos No, not tucked up for the night, this was in the middle of the day, he flew away when he'd finished preening.

Yes I saw Autumnwatch, I saw the camera crew too while they were here, I even spoke to them!

You can only take what's there (unless you are a Photofaker) - so I like the peek into the foliage. Not sure I agree with it wearing what looks like a real fur ruff though!!

I'm always amazed at your "eye" for things, Izzy....I like this a lot! The more natural the better!

Izzy, any wildlife shot is a great shot and this one is no exception.
A good wildlife shot does'nt need to be perfectly sharp and clear, the point is how the pic is taken that's more important. The efforts and determination in getting the shot is the biggest reward which usually only the photographer themself knows. Great job!

I was wondering if you got close enough to use your 100mm for that. : )
Still very close. Looks like a big little bird in a surreptitious shot.

Great that you could get so close - it is a difficult shot to judge. Rather dark and not so much detail, perhaps a closer crop around the bird would have done more?

There's something very cosy, tender and beautiful in this photo... just saying :-))

I really like the soft, secretive, rather hushed "feel" as we peak in quietly and catch that sweet eye gazing back at us. It's that eye and shy expression, soft light on the little face and touch of ruffled feathers, soft, but still standing out through the blurr of branches that make this lovely. Not "normal" technically but this time, I think it really works because it has "feeling" but the most important criteria is that/if it pleases you.

Oh Izzy this is so beautifully illusive! The colors are so warm and engaging! That little bird is stunning all snuggled in ! Excellent work! WOW!

You know I will comment.. and as it is similar ish to my recent robin shot you will know I give it the thumbs up! :) I like the less classic shots.. all for trying new things.. hence mine vary so much! I think i'm getting more hits than misses with the Samyang though (on Flickr).. something is working! :)
