iPad teaser

    Newer Older

After months of consideration, I finally gave in and bought myself an iPad.

I'm in love. This thing is amazing beyond imagination.

All you Apple haters: Show me one portable device that can import your CR2 RAW photographs directly from camera, show them without conversion, and then let you import them as is when you connect it a computer.

This thing is a beauty. I'm in love.

PS: Sorry about all the dust. Don't know how to deal with it, either in real life or in Photoshop.

PPS: This is SOOC, direct conversion from RAW.

    Strobist info:
One YN-460 II through shoot-through umbrella, on the right, 1/128, triggered with RF-602.
    Gold reflector on the left.
    Plexiglass at the bottom.

The lens was Volna-9, again, and I can't remember the aperture, but it should be somewhere between 2.8 and 5.6.

Billy Wilson Photography, and 2 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Sounds like a great use of the iPad. I think I'm going to hold off until the next version, and I really hope Adobe makes some sort of Lightroom-lite app for it.

Lightroom might be cool, but an app that would allow tethered shooting would be even better. 4.0 will give the developers better use of the dock port and we know that the USB port on the Camera Connection Kit works for more than importing photos from your camera... So, who knows? :)

I only use apple hardware and will continue to forever, but give it a few months or even a year and somebody will release something similar that's better. I love apple's computers but their mobile devices are just too simplified for me.

So give it a little time ;)

And how are you importing the RAW photos to it? Through the adapter?

Last but not least, nice photo :P

Yeah, through the Camera Connection Kit. I shoot only RAW (actually, sRAW1) with my 5Dmk2, and thought that I'd try connecting them together with the USB adapter. It worked! It can also import the videos. Amazing, really.

      And thanks. :)

I use mine for my shoots as well. Can't tell you how many times people have been psyched to be able to flip through the proofs right after the shoot on an iPad.

I'll probably buy one down the road...they do look awesome and I know I'll have a use for it!

They look so awesome that you'll *make* a use for it. :)

I'm going to have to buy another one, because my mom (who just cannot use a computer, not even a Mac) won't give it back to me. She just rediscovered e-mail, online newspapers, and even photo albums.

We bought her a photo printer way back when, so she could make albums with her photos from her P&S digital camera. Not anymore, she just threw it away, and she's importing all her photos to the iPad.

Jonathan, I tried that method last week... You were right, people are really impressed by seeing them that big right after you take the pictures. It's also great for seeing your focusing mistakes that are not apparent on the 3" LCD. (I almost never get the focus right. :/ )

      Yep It's great :)

Im not an apple hater (I am posting this comment through my ipod), but I dont think the ipad is worth the investment if you compare it to a tablet pc.

Still, it does make an awesome subject for this nice photo. Hehe
