Story of Duddi Pat
In year 2005, we were searching for our summer destination for camping. Searching through books and internet we came across the place called Duddi Pat Lake. The journey starts many days before the actual traveling begins. We were inexperience and only want to chill out at someplace out of this world. So bought plenty of stuff, including camp, sleeping bags and edibles. So much edibles that it was hard to carry them in our back packs.
The traveling starts on one fine morning from Flahman's Hotel where TDCP bus was parked in the main courtyard. Reached Naran through Abottabad, Balakot, & Kaghan in the evening and stayed at Pine Park Hotel. At night hired a jeep for next days plan.
Early morning when almost all of the Naran was in deep silence we were packing up for our ride to Behsal. Had some breakfast at Batakundi which is a last place where you can find something to eat or hire a jeep. And then the journey into the wilderness starts. We reached Behsal around 12:00 hrs and weater was just wonderful. I had with me my old and rather never used Yashica Camera along with one of my friend's Samsung 2 MP Point and Shot, which was not usable because we forgot to buy any batteries for it.
The real story starts from Behsal. As there was plenty of stuff we had to hire a horse for it. We started our walk at around 13:00 hrs and were dedicated to be at the lake and party with our BBQ in the evening. We walked and walked for around 17 Kms uphill in a day. Me and one of my fellow Rizwan reached the Lake after stops at Galma Valley and then Mulla Ki Basti at around 18:00 hrs. We fixed up the tent and lay down the sleeping bags for our exhausted fellows coming behind us. and then we started to unleash the BBQ stuff... The three other fellows behind us reached after an hour and did not say a word to us.
Me & Rizwan party till late night and had an out of world time with full moon above duddi pat lake... I never thought of capturing that wonderful time. and regret it till today. On the next day we tried our luck with trout fising over the lake and some wonderful relaxing time.
That was one day when I felt totally out of this world... Fully disconnected and sun burned.
