Stars over Kodachrome Basin
Night stars over a sedimentary pipe formation in Kodachrome Basin State Park, Utah (see below for more info about the park and these formations). This NightScape was subtly light painted from the far left side to enhance recognition and to reveal texture. The cluster of stars to the left of the pipe is Pleiades (the "Seven Sisters" constellation), and the bright "star" on the right is the planet Jupiter.
Kodachrome Basin is right next to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

My new ebook, Milky Way NightScapes, gives extensive details on how to enhance the landscape foreground. Three other chapters cover planning, scouting, forecasting star/landscape alignment, shooting and post processing.
