BiG starry night sky

Prev Next

Wide angle, panoramic view (180 degrees) of the Grand Teton valley and mountains in Grand Teton National Park. It was taken at about 1:00 AM, in a remote area to avoid light pollution. I also chose this location because it would place the Milky Way almost directly over the Grand Tetons at this hour. The orange glow to the left is Jackson, Wyoming - about 30 miles away (population 9,000). The "sunset" behind and to right of Mount Moran is actually light pollution from Idaho Falls, Idaho - about 80 miles away (metro area population is 130,000). This photo is part of my Nightscapes set.

Technical Stuff: This photo was taken with my 15mm full-frame Canon fisheye lens (30 seconds @ f2.8, ISO 6400) on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera. I have digitally removed about 80% of the fisheye distortion from this image. Additional technical stuff
