Slaughter at Durbar
On the 9th day of Dashain, Maha Navami, the military perform ritual sacrifice at Durbar square.
First I saw 2 water buffalo and 5 goats killed outside the tourist office on the osuth side of the square.
I arrived around 7am to get a prime viewing spot.
Later in the morning there was also a much bigger slaughter in Kot Square. Instead of one station they had about 7 individual places in that square where they were performing rituals and sacrificying animals.
In Kot square locals were not allowed in but there was a viewing area for tourists.
There were VIPs (presumably government officials) and a heavy military presence.
