Indian Prairie Public Library's History
In November 1987 the Willowbrook and Darien Public Libraries merged to form the Indian Prairie Public Library District. Indian Prairie Library's first location was a small storefront on 75th Street in the Willow Commons Shopping Center. Referendums in 1989 and in 1991 to build a larger building failed. In 1993 voters approved a 34,500 square foot building at the intersection of 75th Street and Clarendon Hills Road, Darien, Illinois.
