Olympia Mills Goods Branch, Selby, Note NER Barlby Signal Box Top Right.
These rails are all that remain of the short branch off the mainline to the loading terminals at the now derelict Olympia Mills Selby. The site was once a large complex industrial hub with these lines running through the factory for trains to pick up or drop off goods at the Olympia Rail Terminals. The rail link has been severed for years now and this is all that remains track wise of the branch, the terminal itself still stands unused. In the top right you can see NER built Barlby Signal Box which would have once controlled these lines into the terminals alongside some ground frames I guess. There's not much info on Olympia Mills but there are clues out there as to how important the rail link would have been. Today the site is owned by BOCM Pauls and the small section of the facility that isn't derelict is run by them, the goods are all delivered by road these days.
