I had a bitch of a time finding normal spaces. The ones in my California job case were mostly the superthin ones and the slightly less superthin ones—5-per-em and 4-per-em spaces, I think—but there were very few 3-per-ems. Once I'd used up all the ones in the tray, I started digging around in these cubbies, which were up at eye level. Here they were all mixed up, too. Finally I found a good supply of the right size spaces in a case a few feet away, so I did a lot of walking back and forth. I also had to run all around the room to find enough 38p strips of leading; there were lots of 37s and 39s in the 38 slots. (Sorry, I don't know the right names for these things.) My feet were kkkkkkilling me by the end of the day, but I was happy.
