Glowing Swan / Lake Re(ar)view - IMRAN™ -- 400+ Views!

    Newer Older

I am just mixing up the style and subjects of photos I post here, as 2012 will shape up to be a year of major changes in my life.

I will have less time to post also, especially as I am traveling in Asia this quarter.

This is just an 'ordinary' shot compared to some of the wonderful landscapes and sunsets I have savored looking at and photographing. But this winter NY shot, on a murky brackish lake walking distance from my home, took longer to execute as the swan moved about.

I had to wait until it was perfectly framed within the hanging dead branches that would spring to life in Spring. If you look closely you cn still see the reflection of the swan on the greenish gray water, and even see the tuft of grass hanging from it's beak. This is not an SOOC shot, as I played with it in Photoshop. The swan's beak was in sharp focus but I tried a bit of a diffused glow effect to see what it would look like. It makes the swan glow softly but can make it appear out of focus because of that effect. I did not have time to play with it more as I wanted to post something while traveling non-stop for 3 days, in 3 countries.

I am posting this in the same Album (Gorgeous Greens) where I posted aphoto of a swan on the same lake in lush green colors. I am not sure if it is the same swan wondering why I keep following it for so many years. :-)

I would love to have your feedback because I was not sure if I should post this shot. It had over 100+ Views on TwitPic where I test-posted it, so decided to try it here.

Let me know your thoughts, my friends. Best wishes from Pakistan...

We miss your posting on Flickr and hope everything smooths out for you this year Imran. It maybe my computer but it looks like the focal point is off just a little. Did you use auto focus?. For the composition maybe have the swan a little more to the left so that the swan is coming into the pictures. I hope that your travels will offer more opportunitys to take and post more of your great photos on flickr. May only good things find a home in your heart.

Jerry Sorensen My friend, Jerry. So kind of you to wish me and also for your detailed comment. I did update the text of the picture to explain why the swan appears out of focus. This is not an SOOC shot but a Photoshop experiment I did not have time to complete. :)
