The Livestock Genetics Program (LiveGene) aims to 1) integrate research and development by ILRI and its partners across the spectrum of priority setting and targeting of genetics interventions, through to gene discovery, characterization and conservation, to delivery of improved breeds to small scale livestock keepers; and 2) with national breeding programs, deliver higher agricultural productivity through improved genetics of priority livestock species including dairy cattle, poultry, sheep, goats, pigs and old world camelids.
