Grade 2 Chicks

These are ‘grade 2’ chicks. Grade 2 chicks are born with defects and are unable to be sold.. It is normal for 1-2% of the newly hatched chicks to be ‘grade 2’. A hatching process was organized by the Ethiopian Institute for Agricultural Research at the Debre Zeit Agricultural Research Centre in April 2016. (photo credit: Hannah Rollings)
