"50 for Freedom" Signing at the 104th International Labour Conference 2015-06-01
One year after the adoption of the Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29) and accompanying Recommendation, the 104th Session of the ILC presents a timely opportunity to engage with and garner the support of ILC delegates for a global campaign to end modern slavery. High-level guests, delegates, staff and visitors are invited to show their support by signing a panel installed in the Palais des Nations throughout the ILC. On the World Day Against Child Labour (12 June), the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Kailash Satyarthi, will unveil the panel and launch the “50 for Freedom” campaign. This campaign aims at promoting ratification and implementation of the Forced Labour Protocol, with the first 50 Member States ratifying it by 2018. Global mobilization efforts will then be continued on the platform 50forfreedom.org and with the hashtag #50FF.
