Maritime Transport Work
|
Maritime transport is the backbone of international trade and the driving force for globalization. But for the world’s 1.5 million seafarers, there had never been a clear set of rules and standards. A new “bill of rights” – the ILO’s Maritime Labour Convention – changes that. The MLC, 2006 came into force on 20 August 2013 ensuring protection for seafarers and fair competition for shipowners.
