At the end of 2012, the ILO Youth Employment Programme launched a photo contest that focused on young people at work. The photo contest was organized in partnership with the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team and Country Office for Central and Eastern Europe in Budapest, and financed by The MasterCard Foundation.

The objective of the contest was to highlight the challenges young people face in the workplace, as well as propose innovative ideas to address them. Participants were invited to capture youth at work (in different places and under various conditions) in a creative and original manner. Photographers were asked to focus specifically on working conditions, gender barriers, discrimination, informality, entrepreneurship, working poverty, migration, precarious work, and the rural economy, among others.

There has been a great deal of interest in the Contest, and hundreds of people from all over the world have sent amazing photos.
