I forgot about lunch and ate the cinnamon roll instead.
I have been vegan for nearly seven years now.
When I first made the switch, there were very many foods that I missed and wanted to find in my new vegan world.
I made a list. There was french toast, cupcakes, milkshakes, macaroni and cheese, gyros, pizza, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream...
And one by one, I have checked them all off the list, either by making them myself or by finding them at some restaurant or cafe.
Except for one. One
Oh, cinnamon rolls.
Arguably my most favoritest food in the universe, I was unable to find a vegan alternative anywhere. Seven years, people!
I came very close - while in San Francisco a while back, I did my research and found a little coffeeshop that advertised them. So I went.
No luck. Sold out that day.
I went back again, just before I caught my flight out of town.
No luck, again. Sold out, again.
But no longer.
Last week I stopped in to the Riverwest Co-op for lunch.
Lo and behold, glorygloryhallelujah, vegan cinnamon rolls.
