The Call for a straight flush.
Behold the lore of straight ticket voting. Many are hoping that this will carry the day, as it had during reconstruction. (The original reason why political parties have used an elephant, or a donkey, or a rooster on the ballot sheets- because in many [rural] areas, folks could not read.) Back then, voting for a critter was easier than having to spell out R E P U B L I C A N, or whatever. Back then, making your mark meant simply drawing an 'X'.
Currently, there are only 17 states in the union that still offer this as a method of casting a ballot. Most are in the south. Where it is available, it is said that it will produce problems for both parties nationwide.
