A misty morning at Fairy Falls in the Columbia River Gorge.
This is another shot from the same day I took this one. I wasn't completely satisfied with my processing on the last one and wanted to take this one in a slightly different direction. I think in general I was looking for more depth and less saturation. Awhile back I asked fellow Flickr user Jamey Pyles what kind of techniques he uses since I really like his dark and moody/misty atmospheres. I tried processing this one with some of those methods in mind and I think I like the outcome. I believe the main idea is to contrast light areas with dark ones without having it blow out or go completely black in large sections of the image.
If anyone has any thoughts on this or anything else I'm always interested to hear about it.
