Mangrove forest in Tanzania
On the eastern coast of Tanzania, communities are restoring mangrove forests to adapt to rising sea levels and storm surges. Replanting mangrove forests helps prevent sea water intrude into local groundwater sources and turn the water salty.
As farmers are able to grow vegetables locally, they can remain food-secure during the pandemic.
This work is part of the Developing Core Capacity to Address Adaptation to Climate Change in Productive Coastal Zone project, funded by the Global Environment Facility.
