Shopping for Saturday

    Newer Older

Jerusalem, "Mahane Yehuda" market, summer 2005. Shopping threw the market involves all kind of people from all society layers. Orthodox people with atheists, old and young rich and "not so wealthy"....
The colors of the market are visible, the sounds and smells are up to you to immagine. Worth a visit.
This market was a target of many suicide bombers. It had its share of terror and horror, and yet all are very welcoming there, smiling and you do not have to hide when taking a pic. They send us with a blessing for a happy weekend and "Shabat Shalom" (peaceful saturday).

This is a wonderful image. I agree, the market shots individually tell stories, but as a collection of images, the stories come together as a whole. Wonderful candid captures...people there must not mind their pictures being taken as everyone seems very relaxed and open to the idea, or you were smooth enough to take them without anyone knowing, and that's OK too. Very skilled work.
