Solar TekPaks and NIWA Solar Power Systems as Community Charging Stations in Dumagat-Remontado Communities in Magata-Manggahan, Brgy. Laiban, Tanay, Rizal
ICSC and 350 Pilipinas, in partnership with the Tanay, Rizal Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), conducted a basic training on solar technology to the Dumagat-Remontado communities in Sitios Manggahan and Magata, Brgy. Laiban, Tanay Rizal, 26 January 2021. These communities were heavily affected by Typhoon Ulysses last November 2020. They also turned over 3 units of TekPak and NIWA, solar portable devices that will serve as community charging stations for these off-grid communities.
The solar TekPaks were assembled by Typhoon Yolanda survivors in Tacloban City and 350 Pilipinas volunteers. The all-women Sulong Sulu-an Association based in Sulu-an Island, Guiuan donated their TekPak to the Dumagats as a way of paying it forward to other vulnerable communities affected by disasters. Power4All donated 3 NIWA solar power systems in response to ICSC’s appeal to provide humanitarian energy to communities affected by Typhoon Ulysses. (c)AC Dimatatac/ICSC
