Proboscis conservation. Proboscis (Nasalis larvatus) by IUCN since 2000 Redlist included in the conservation status category Endangered (Threatened Extinction) after previously categorized as "Vulnerable" (Vulnerable; VU). Additionally Proboscis also listed on CITES as an Appendix I (can not be traded internationally)

In 1987 estimated there were about 260,000 proboscis monkey in Borneo alone but by 2008 that number is expected to decline drastically and only about 25,000.
