I flushed this Whip-poor-will while taking a walk behind the ski hill at Whitnall Park. I took many photos of it from poor angles, and shooting into the sun. The bird allowed me to slowly circle around it for a better photo, but then the batteries went dead! I warmed the batteries in my hands for several minutes and was able to get this last photo of the bird. Satisfied with a nice shot, I left the bird to nap again. This is the first time I was able to get more than a fleeting glimpse of a Whip-poor-will.
