BA First A380 Heathrow

Fly-by-wire special delivery. British Airways’ first A380 lands at Heathrow at 10:30am on Thursday July 4 2013 after its delivery flight from Toulouse. Seen here over Myrtle Avenue in Hounslow just a few seconds before touchdown on runway 27L. A landmark event - the first UK carrier to operate the Airbus superjumbo which now becomes BA’s flagship aircraft, taking over from the Boeing 747-400. The A380 is the world’s largest passenger jet, carrying more than 500 passengers. It follows last week’s delivery of BA’s first 787 Dreamliner. You can see my photo of that at: www.flickr.com/photos/ianwylie/9151837306/ BA has ordered a total of 12 A380s and 42 Dreamliners. Note also the untroubled pigeon perched on the TV aerial.
